Studio
Location
Being just ten minutes inland from the ocean our location is very special.
To one side of our lovely studio you can see beautiful native bushland, grass-trees, native birds and animals (including our resident koalas) and amazing sunsets.
From the other side you can see expansive views of rolling valleys and the ocean stretching across the horizon. It’s a peaceful and tranquil setting…a sanctuary, especially if you come from the busy suburbs or the city.
Our little studio is made using recycled, environmentally friendly and local materials. It is solar powered, catches its own rain-water and has a composting toilet (a loo with a view!). Being passionate permaculturalists the studio is surrounded by a rambling food forest…bee hives, flowers, mangoes, bananas, herbs, native and medicinal plants, pineapples and more. In good weather the walls of the dread shed open almost completely to the outdoors so there is always plenty of fresh airflow and you almost feel as though you have spent the whole day outside. If you are around at lunch time Amy prides in creating healthy, vegetarian, homegrown, organic food and loves to share it.
Many of our clients comment on how relaxed and energised they feel after a day in our little red dread shed. Its truly a special space to be while we transform your hair for you or teach you to become a loctitian. It is our hope that you always leave us feeling light, inspired and refreshed after a day of good food and beautiful, quality dreadlocking.

things to
see and do
If you are coming from far away and would like to turn your booking into a special few days away our studio is located close to many amazing places to visit while your in the area. We are…
- 10 minutes from Murwillumbah, a pretty and peaceful country town situated right on the banks of the Tweed River.
- 15 minutes from beaches Cabarita (voted Australia’s best beach 2021), Pottsville, near deserted Wooyung and (our personal favourite) Hastings Point: a very special and quiet pocket of coastline with picturesque camping spots, hidden rock pools and mangrove forests. Being a marine reserve it is abundant with migrational birdlife, ocean life (including many rays and dolphins) and beautiful shells. The surrounding coastline is also very special with kilometres of sub-tropical coastal rainforest, paperbark swamps and estuaries.
- 45 minutes from Nimbin, with all of its markets, cafes and culture.
- 45 minutes from the centre of Byron Bay
- 25 minutes from Coolangatta airport, beaches and shopping.
- 15 minutes from Wollumbin (Mount Warning) National Park with incredible hiking, waterholes and waterfalls, unique wildlife and pristine rainforest.
